Full Kitchen Refurbishment in Newhaven, Edinburgh

The client had previously received a quote from Wicks solely for replacing and installing a brand new kitchen, which was in the region of £20,000. Our proposal for restoring and painting their existing kitchen, including the worktops, was approximately £4,000. This offered the client a considerable saving, allowing them to afford additional upgrades like replacing the wall tiles, installing new flooring, and painting all the walls, ceilings, and woodwork. In total, she managed to save £13,000 and still achieve a comprehensive refurbishment.

After consulting with the client, Jack finalised the selection of all colours and finishes for the cabinets and worktops. The colours chosen were Farrow & Ball Card Room Green with a 10% gloss finish, and Winter 41 Spray Granite Finish for all worktops, including additional areas such as the utility room and the boxing for boiler pipes. We also proposed gold accents for all the handles. The final outcome was exceptional.

Splashbacks & Flooring

The client opted for the classic Metro tiles with light grey grouting to accentuate their brick-effect appearance. For the flooring, we recommended Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) as the most suitable option. The client chose Luxury Rigid Core Gingerbread Oak Plank, which complemented the kitchen and wooden floors beautifully—a very astute selection.

Painting & Decorating

As previously mentioned, the significant savings enabled the client to extend the scope of our work to include painting the ceilings, walls, and woodwork. This task was extensive, requiring thorough preparation and repairs, especially following a complete electrical overhaul. We used Brilliant White for the ceilings and woodwork, and at Jack’s suggestion, we matched the wall colour to the countertop’s base shade, Farrow & Ball’s Strong White, creating a cohesive and visually pleasing effect.
